NordicWay 2 is a C-ITS pilot project that enables vehicles, infrastructure and network operators to communicate safety hazards and other information from roads in the Nordic countries between different stakeholders

Partners: Over 40 partners from the Nordic countries representing private, public and academic sectors

Objective: The NordicWay2 project will:

• test the interoperability of several C-ITS services on the NordicWay 2 network
• test the infrastructure readiness for connected and automated driving
• explore requirements for automated driving in snowy and icy conditions
• demonstrate and highlight future services and challenges connected to vehicles with higher SAE levels

Carmenta leads the project task group: Emergency Vehicle Approaching. The task group will establish and test information streams and technology for alerting vehicles on the road that a Emergency Vehicle is approaching well in advance of hearing or seeing sirens or blue light. More warning time will lead to faster driver reaction and shortened travel time for Emergency Vehicles.
