Terrain routing of manned and autonomous vehicles

Carmenta offers a highly dynamic, geospatial data-related solution, with advanced routing functionality for Force Operations. Our routing algorithm automatically calculates the most suitable on-road and off-road routes, based on diverse optimisation criteria. To ensure safe travel of both manned and autonomous vehicles, the routing algorithm calculates an optimal route to take account of limitations in gradeability, load capacity, fording depth, planarity and vegetation based on map data, weather information, and vehicle characteristics. The algorithm gauges which areas are impossible to reach or enter under any circumstances, and which areas are passable but not recommended to enter, and then sets a route accordingly. This algorithm has been developed and tested in partnership with various Swedish authorities. Carmenta owns all the IPR.
