Efficient routing of UAVs

The use of UAVs have become more and more common as prices have dropped but they are mostly remote controlled or programmed to follow pre-determined routes. In many situations it would be beneficial for the operator to concentrate on the task being performed by the UAV instead of controlling the flight directly.

The purpose of this Master’s Thesis is to evaluate methods to route a UAV with specific performance characteristics so that it follows a designated object in an urban environment. The estimated energy consumption of the calculation should be taken into account in order to minimize the impact on the drone’s flight time.

This task is suitable for students interested in algorithms and low level programming.
