Tiling scheme agnostic rendering of 3D terrain

Today it is getting easier and cheaper to access detailed 3D terrain models, in large part due to advancements in generating the models from data collected by inexpensive drones. The data is distributed in common file formats but there is no standardised tiling scheme which makes it a challenge to efficiently combine and render data from different sources over large areas.

The purpose of the Master’s Thesis is to explore ways of efficiently mixing and rendering 3D terrain models that use different tiling schemes on a modern GPU.

This thesis work is suitable for students with strong C++ skills and previous experience with GPU rendering.
