We offer SDKs (Software Development Kits) for working with geographic information, as well as expert consultancy services, and comprehensive support to system integrators and providers in the defense, unmanned systems, maritime, and public safety domains.

Our products and solutions are currently used by military forces and the civil sector alike, spanning airborne, ground, maritime, and unmanned systems. They serve a wide variety of applications, ranging from route planning and route simulation, to battle management systems and traffic management systems.

Our History

Pioneering Geospatial Technology Development

Carmenta has been at the forefront of geospatial technology development for more than 35 years. Founded in 1985 by four ambitious software engineers, our journey started with tools for the computer system onboard the Swedish Air Force fighter aircraft Viggen. After the launch of Carmenta Engine, our technology was quickly adopted by the Swedish Armed Forces, Swedish Maritime Administration and Swedish Transport Administration as their preferred geoserver platform. All remain customers to date.

Today, we proudly serve as a trusted and long-term partners to world-leading defense contractors such as Saab, Thales, Airbus, and BAE Systems.

Headquartered in Sweden (with offices in Gothenburg and Stockholm), Carmenta has subsidiaries in Germany, France, the UK and the US.

This has resulted in technology advancements not only in our core business, but also in the domains of public safety and autonomous vehicles. These advancements have resulted in the establishment of two separate companies:

• Carmenta Public Safety
  With focus on a command and control system for 112/emergency response, Carmenta Public Safety was acquired by OMDA in 2021.
• CarmentaAutomotive
  With focus on autonomous (self-driving) vehicles and systems for providing real-time information that vehicle sensors cannot reach, CarmentaAutomotive was created in 2015 and became a separate company in 2021.
