With the release of Carmenta Map Builder 3.5 we have made it easier than ever to package data for deployment to applications based on Carmenta Engine 5.15.
Packaging your data in CarmentaCatalog files removes any limitations on file sizes that limited MSI files, they work on all operating systems supported by Carmenta Engine, and there isn’t anything you have to install on your system to use them. All of this is done without having to convert your original data files, so the packaging is extremely fast as well.
In addition to the updated output from Carmenta Map Builder, we also added Geopackage, CADRG, and ARINC-424 as input formats, as well as lots of minor improvements and some bug fixes.

Possible to package 3D data
Carmenta Map Builder now contains the possibility to package Collada (.dae) 3D data for use in Carmenta Engine applications. After the 3D has been packaged and optimized for use in Carmenta Engine it will be available as a Catalog Dataset for the target application.
Customize the user interface
It is now easy to configure what part of the user interface that should be visible for the end user, and it is also possible for the end user to easily turn off parts of the user interface that they don’t use. This makes possible to streamline the creation even more than before.
Many other settings that previously only could be changed in the settings file, can now be edited directly by the end user in a new dialog.
Open Street Map without script operators
The output from Open Street Map layers does not require script operators any longer, so you can use the output directly in Carmenta Engine applications without the Carmenta Engine Python API, such as Carmenta Server or applications where you can’t install the Python API.

Updated user interface
The latest update to the user interface in Carmenta Map Builder 3.3 includes time-saving shortcuts to the most common settings, making it easier to configure visualisers. We have also updated the project validation process, which now includes a shortcut link from each validation error, taking users directly to the location in the user interface where the setting can be rectified.
Support for new data formats
The elevation layers now support GeoTIFF source data as well as DTED, which means Carmenta Map Builder can use elevation data from a wider range of providers.
Data can also now be imported from Esri File Geodatabases, which means Esri File Geodatabase data can be used in all targeted versions of Carmenta Engine.
We have also introduced a new layer type that enables MapInfo files (TAB and MIF) to be read with preserved symbology.
Include raster cache in output
A raster cache policy can now be set on raster datasets, which means that the data is displayed faster on the clients. The generated raster cache can be included in the output folder or MSI.
Configure and publish catalogue datasets
You can now assign keywords to the datasets in your project and configure them for publishing as catalogue datasets or not. You can also now configure which, if any, of the attributes should be text-searchable on vector datasets.
