Carmenta is pleased to announce the release of Carmenta Server 4.8 and Carmenta Server Core 2021.0, our web map servers targeting Windows Server and different container platforms. The new release is built on Carmenta Engine 5.15, the latest version of Carmenta’s map engine runtime.

The new release offers an enhanced developer experience for publishing 3D web maps for the Cesium open-source library. Define all necessary services for elevation, ground imagery, 3D Tiles models, vector features etc. in a single map configuration, using the Carmenta Server SDK tools.

Further, the support for container engines has been expanded, from Docker containers to the daemon-less Podman container engine. This allows using non-privileged user accounts without full root authority, increasing container isolation and enhancing system security.

Carmenta Server 4.8 and Carmenta Server Core 2021.0 also leverage the new functionality in Carmenta Engine 5.15, including full support for visualization of the DOD MIL-STD-2525D and NATO APP-6(D) military symbol standards, portable map bundles in single files containing all maps and resources needed for one or more map services, and much more.

Carmenta Server 4.8 and Carmenta Server Core 2021.0 are shipping now. Please contact sales@carmenta.com for more information. If you would like to upgrade existing licenses, please contact Carmenta support at support@carmenta.com.
