Carmenta Server Core, Geospatial Technologies

Carmenta is pleased to announce the release of Carmenta Server Core 2019.1, our web map server targeting the Docker container platform. The new release is built on Carmenta Engine 5.13, the latest version of Carmenta’s map engine runtime, released recently.

The new release has an improved and simplified packaging and installation of the SDK, which together with simplified license handling will make development and testing of advanced map services easier. Other improvements include support for reading and publishing tiled raster maps as simplified XYZ / OpenStreetMap Slippy maps, greatly improved 3D Tiles performance for both 3D objects and detailed 3D models, and the addition of Kubernetes resource metrics for monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana.

Carmenta Server Core 2019.1 also leverages the new functionality in Carmenta Engine 5.13, including support for the next generation of terrain routing functionality with generation of travel time isochrones for off road driving, and the new feature to automatically detect peaks, basins, ridges and valleys from elevation data, among other things.

More information about the new release is available in the document What’s New in Carmenta Server Core 2019.1. General information about Carmenta Server Core can be found on the product page.
